#6. Life is "Good"

I live nearly 50 feet away from the Davis Senior High School. This is what I usually see in the morning between 7:15AM to 7:55AM: Kids jump out of Mercedes, BMWs, Hummers, Jaguars, Lexus and other big ass SUVs. Life is not bad!

I always wanted to know: How many of them are actually aware that their lives are so much better than many others on this planet? In fact, this is not just a question for the high school kids, what about college students and the ignorant individuals in this country / around the globe?

I visited GuangZhou, China in May. My dad and I were on our way to the gym, I saw this on the sidewalk:

"My College Dream. Dear ladies and gentlemen: How are you! Maybe it is rare to see my type of begging! If you trust me, please help me. I can never ever imagine this kind of cruel misfortunate happened to me. My father passed away a year ago; later, my mother abandoned us. I am forced to drop out due to financial problems. I really have no idea how to continue my college education; therefore, I am......"

We were in a big hurry, so I did not get to photography the entire message. Indeed, there are hundreds and thousands out there are suffering much more serious issue than him, but I would like to use his photo and message as a constant reminder: appreciate life and opportunities!

My father left me at age 15, my mother cannot afford college although she works overtime. I am forced to find my own way to pay for college, and I am doing okay without resorting to begging.
